The Minister of Education, Dr. Olatunji Alausa, has summoned protesting professors from the University of Abuja Senate to discuss their grievances over the appointment of Prof. Aisha Maikudi as Vice-Chancellor, which they allege was flawed and unlawful.
The meeting, scheduled for 2:00 PM today, follows petitions to the minister and President Bola Tinubu by 43 Senate members, demanding the dissolution of the Governing Council and a fresh, fair appointment process.
The professors accuse the council of irregularities, lack of integrity, and breach of university laws.
The ongoing controversy has led to a vote of no confidence in the Governing Council and heightened calls for intervention to restore integrity in the university’s leadership.
