BREAKING: Kwankwaso Dumps NNPP, Joins ADC in Bold Pre-2027 Move

The Kwankwasiyya movement has announced that Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, former governor of Kano State, will formally leave the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Monday.

The high-profile defection ceremony is set to take place in Kano, with Kwankwaso expected to be joined by key NNPP members. The move positions him for a fresh political chapter ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The announcement follows a visit by Rauf Aregbesola, former governor of Osun State and national secretary of the ADC, to Kwankwaso’s Abuja residence. While Kwankwaso confirmed the meeting on X, he offered no details about their discussions.

Speculation over Kwankwaso’s defection had already been fueled during the annual Kwankwasiyya Eid festival in Kano, where supporters chanted the name of Peter Obi, former Anambra State governor and ex-Labour Party presidential candidate, in Kwankwaso’s presence.

Both leaders acknowledged the applause and delivered brief remarks at the event.

Monday’s ceremony will officially close Kwankwaso’s NNPP chapter a party he helped build and launch him into a new political trajectory with the ADC.
