BREAKING: Kidnapped Kebbi Deputy Speaker Freed

The Deputy Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Muhammad Samaila Bagudo, has been released after being abducted by suspected Lakurawa terrorists.

Chief Press Secretary to the Kebbi State Governor, Ahmed Idris confirmed late Saturday that Bagudo is safe and has been reunited with his family.

Bagudo, 60, was kidnapped on Thursday night, October 31, in his hometown of Bagudo, shortly after Isha’i prayers. Armed assailants reportedly stormed the town, seized the lawmaker, and whisked him away, sparking fear across the community.

The Kebbi State Police, working with the military and vigilante groups, launched an intensive manhunt. Police spokesperson CSP Nafiu Abubakar had assured the public of the lawmaker’s safe return, quoting the Commissioner of Police: “The Command is determined to rescue the Honourable member and apprehend the culprits.”

While details of his release remain scarce, government sources said Bagudo was freed unharmed, bringing relief to residents still shaken by the abduction.
