Bandits stormed a mosque during Subh prayer in Kiba Ruwa, Sabon-Birni LGA of Sokoto State early Saturday, killing two people including the imam. Several worshippers were abducted, though the exact number remains unknown. Security agencies have been alerted and search operations are underway.
The attack comes weeks after bandits abducted 26 schoolgirls from Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State. The incident drew controversy after soldiers previously deployed to the school were reportedly withdrawn shortly before the assault.
