The Independence National Electoral Commission, INEC has confirmed an attack on one of its Officials in Kogi by armed gunmen.
The statement revealed that the attack occurred at about 3:30 A.M today Friday the 1st of December 2023. It added that the gunmen engaged security operatives in a gun battle for over 30 minutes until the arrival of reinforcement.
“While no lives were lost, property was destroyed in the ensuing gun battle. A team of combined security personnel have been deployed to protect the residence. This incident occurred a day after a mob besieged our state office.
INEC appealed for a thorough investigation and enhanced security in Kogi State to protect its personnel and assets.
