The Vice Chancellor of Borno State University (BOSU), Professor Babagana Gutti, has called for strengthened collaboration with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) to enhance security and improve the quality of education within the university.
Professor Gutti made this appeal during a familiarization visit to the NSCDC Borno State Command headquarters on Friday.
Accompanied by the Registrar, Zanna Mustapha Kashim, and other members of the university’s management team, Professor Gutti was welcomed by the state NSCDC Commandant, Assistant Commandant General (ACG) Musa Farouk Boyi.
The visit, Professor Gutti explained, was organized to explore opportunities for cooperation and to discuss strategies for promoting peace and stability not only within the university environment but also in the surrounding community.
During his remarks, Professor Gutti highlighted the importance of creating a secure environment for the students, faculty, and staff.
He noted that the university is committed to instilling good moral values among the students, who are predominantly young people, and stressed the importance of ensuring their safety and security while they pursue their education.
The Vice-Chancellor expressed optimism about building a lasting partnership with the NSCDC to achieve these goals and urged the Corps to support BOSU’s mission of creating a peaceful and secure educational setting.
In response, ACG Musa Farouk Boyi congratulated Professor Gutti on his appointment as Vice-Chancellor and commended Governor Babagana Umara Zulum for his role in approving the new leadership for BOSU.
ACG Boyi assured Professor Gutti and the BOSU delegation of the NSCDC’s full support in achieving the university’s objectives and emphasized the Corps’ commitment to fostering a safer and more stable academic environment.
He further acknowledged the ongoing discussions and initiatives that began with Professor Gutti’s predecessor, noting that the NSCDC remains dedicated to honoring all previously established commitments to BOSU.
ACG Boyi underlined the vital role of education in societal development and affirmed that security agencies, such as the NSCDC, play a key part in supporting educational institutions in achieving their mission.
This development marks a significant step towards building stronger relationships between Borno State University and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, as both parties reaffirm their commitment to promoting safety and fostering a conducive learning atmosphere for students.
Through this partnership, BOSU aims to become a model institution in both academic excellence and security, setting a high standard for educational environments across the region.
