Borno State House of Assembly Approves 2025 Budget, Confirms Key Appointments

The Borno State House of Assembly has approved the 2025 Budget Appropriation Bill, increasing the total budget to N615.857 billion on Tuesday.

This follows the adoption of the Appropriation Committee’s report, which added N31 billion to the initial proposal submitted by Governor Babagana Umara Zulum.

The report, presented by Committee Chairman Hon. Mustapha Ali Benisheikh, was approved by the House.

Clerk Abdullahi Gogo Mohammed was directed to prepare six copies of the bill for the governor’s assent.

The House also passed a bill establishing the Borno State Hajj Commission, based on a report from Hon. Dr. Mohammed Ali Gajiram, Chairman of the Committee on Religious Affairs and Special Education.

Additionally, the Assembly confirmed several executive appointments, including Alhaji Modu Alhaji Musa as Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission.

It also approved the establishment of the Zakkat and Waqaf Commission to enhance social welfare and confirmed Gogo Abdullahi as the substantive Clerk of the House.

In other legislative actions, the House passed a bill creating the Water Users Association to promote sustainable water use in the state.
