Borno State govt urges clerics to be moderate in Ramadan messages

—

The government of Borno state has asked Muslim leaders to speak in a way that is not extreme during Ramadan when they explain the Quran.

They want them to avoid saying things that could lead to extremism or cause misunderstandings and disagreements.

The Borno state commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Professor Usman Tar, spoke to reporters after a security meeting at the Government House in Maiduguri.

He said, “The government of Borno state wants Islamic leaders to be careful with their words during Ramadan so that they don’t say things that could lead to extremism.”

He also said that the security council thanked the military and other security agencies for working hard to stop crime in the state. The Borno state government is ready to help all security agencies do their job well.

The commissioner mentioned that the council talked about stopping illegal mining in the state. They want the government to make sure that illegal mining doesn’t happen.

They also want security agencies to let people trade with neighboring countries like Cameroon, Chad, and Niger Republic, as well as other countries in Central Africa. This will help trade between countries.

The Borno state government is planning to start a mining company to make sure that mining follows rules. They will keep illegal mining banned until there are laws to control it.

The council also praised the Borno government for helping its people during Ramadan and tough economic times, especially those living in camps because they had to leave their homes.

Governor Babagana Zulum, Deputy Governor Alh Umar Kadafur, Secretary to the State Government Hon. Bukar Tijjani, and other important people attended the meeting. They are all part of the security council.
