The Borno State Police Command has dismissed reports of an attack on Government Girls College, Maiduguri, describing the incident as a false alarm.
According to a statement issued on Monday Night, 24th November 2025, the Command received a distress call at about 7:30 pm alleging an attack on the school.
A rapid response team led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations, DCP Garba Audu Bosso, was immediately deployed to the location for an on-the-spot assessment.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the panic was triggered when some students near the staff quarters gate claimed to have seen unidentified individuals behind the school fence. The sighting caused commotion and a brief stampede, though no lives were lost.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, urged the public to stay calm and avoid circulating unverified information that may cause unnecessary fear.
He added that normalcy has been fully restored and further updates will be provided when necessary.
