Borno Govt Bids Farewell to 230 Christian Pilgrims to Israel

The Borno State Government has formally bid farewell to 230 Christian pilgrims departing for Israel, at a ceremony held at the EYN Church Centre, Wulari (Jerusalem), in Maiduguri.

Representing Governor Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Bukar Tijani, urged the pilgrims to be worthy ambassadors of Borno State and Nigeria by upholding peace, discipline and good conduct throughout their stay in the Holy Land.

He also encouraged them to remember the state and the nation in their prayers, noting that Borno continues to record improving peaceful coexistence despite prevailing challenges.

Alhaji Tijani reaffirmed the commitment of the Zulum-led administration to promoting religious harmony and supporting faith-based activities as part of efforts to strengthen unity and social stability across the state.

Earlier, the Executive Secretary of the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Elder James Rangi Ndirmbita, appreciated Governor Zulum, the Deputy Governor and the Ministry of Religious Affairs for their sustained support to Christian pilgrims.

He described the pilgrimage programme as vital to fostering unity, moral renewal and spiritual growth among citizens.

In a vote of thanks, Bishop John Bakeni, represented by Rev. Iliya Ndirmbita, commended the state government for its developmental strides and consistent support for Christian communities, while assuring continued prayers for peace, progress and prosperity in Borno State.

The event was attended by the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Alhaji Babagana Malarima, alongside other senior government officials and religious leaders.
