Boko Haram terrorists have returned to Mussa community in Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, abducting two farmers and disrupting agricultural activities in the area.
The insurgents, who reportedly arrived in large numbers on motorcycles and wielding sophisticated weapons, attacked Mussa B community on Tuesday while residents were working on their farmlands.
A resident, who was among those affected by the recent abduction of schoolchildren in the community and lost his daughter during the incident, told Newsmen that the attackers appeared to be targeting more residents, including parents of the missing children.
“After the abduction of our children, they came back to abduct us too. We were working on our farms with the trauma of losing our children, but these people came in large numbers and abducted two farmers,” the source said.
He explained that farming is the major source of livelihood for residents and lamented that repeated attacks have instilled fear among farmers, severely affecting agricultural activities.
“Since the election, we have not benefited from any government intervention. Our source of income is our farmland and our children, but now everything is gone. Our children are still missing for a month,” he added.
The resident appealed to the government to take urgent action to improve security in the area, warning that continued attacks could make farming impossible for many residents
