Borno Builds 500-Capacity Lecture Hall at Cameroon’s University of Maroua

The Borno State Government has commenced the construction of a 500-capacity lecture hall at the University of Maroua in Cameroon’s Far North Region as part of Governor Babagana Zulum’s legacy projects.
The Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Engr. Lawan Abba Wakilbe, inspected the project during a visit to the university.
Wakilbe was received by Mr. Abraham Nchatou of the Governor’s Office in Maroua, Prof. Danwe Raidandi, Head of Physical Planning at the University of Maroua, and the Project Engineer, Engr. Lawan Zarami Mafi.

The project engineer disclosed that all materials required for the completion of the lecture hall had been delivered, assuring that the facility would be completed and handed over by the first week of November 2026.
The commissioner expressed satisfaction with the progress of work and reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to ensuring quality construction and timely completion of the project.
Wakilbe also met with indigenous Borno students studying at the University of Maroua as refugees.
He listened to their concerns and reaffirmed Governor Zulum’s commitment to their welfare and educational needs, including promised financial assistance.
He assured the students that steps were being taken to facilitate the release of the assistance and urged them to remain focused on their studies.
The commissioner said the project reflects the strong educational and fraternal ties between Borno State and Cameroon’s Far North Region, as well as Governor Zulum’s commitment to regional integration and support for displaced Borno residents.
