In a tragic incident on the border between Cameroon and Nigeria, reports have emerged detailing the brutal attack on a group of fishermen by suspected members of the Boko Haram terrorist group.Â
According to sources, no fewer than 27 fishermen were mercilessly slaughtered, with three others abducted during the horrifying assault.
The assailants, believed to be affiliated with the Buduma faction of Abou Ummaymah, targeted a local fishing community situated mainly Nigerian fishermen at Island Kofiya, near Darak in Cameroon.
Accounts suggest that the attackers tied the hands of their victims behind their backs before carrying out the heinous act of slaughter.
In a further display of brutality, the terrorists also abducted three additional fishermen, accusing them of espionage on behalf of the ISWAP faction.
The bodies of the slain fishermen were later discovered during a search and rescue operation conducted by military forces and their colleagues.
This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing threat posed by extremist groups in the region, and the devastating impact of their actions on innocent lives and communities especially in Northeastern Nigeria.
