Boko Haram terrorists Demand $300,000 Ransom for Abducted Former Borno LG Official and Companion

Suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists have released a video featuring two abducted men pleading for their lives and calling for government intervention to secure their release in Borno State.
In the footage, one of the victims identified himself as Hon. Hassan Biu Miringa, a former Vice Chairman of Biu Local Government Area. He was abducted alongside another man on December 17, 2025, around 2:30 p.m., while traveling from Miringa to Maiduguri.
The captors are demanding a ransom of $150,000 for each hostage, totalling $300,000.
“We were abducted on our way from Miringa to Maiduguri around 2:30. Alhamdulillah, we are alive,” one of the victims stated in the video. “We are calling on the government and individuals to come to our rescue.”
The victims made a direct appeal to several prominent figures, including Deputy Governor Umar Usman Kadafur, Hon. Mukhtar Betara Aliyu, Hon. Sule Ali Rimi, Hon. Yakubu Gambo Kimba, and Alhaji Musa Dogo Biu.
“We are pleading with them to come to our rescue. We are their sons,” the victim continued. “They said we must provide $150,000 each. For the two of us, it is $300,000. We want to be reunited with our families.”
