The Boko Haram insurgent group has reportedly released a video issuing a 72-hour ultimatum tied to ongoing mediation efforts for the release of 416 abducted women and children from the Ngoshe community in Borno State.
This was disclosed in an official statement by the Borno South Youth Alliance (BOSYA) on Sunday night, April 19, 2026.
According to the statement signed by BOSYA President, Samaila Ibrahim Kaigama, the insurgents sent what was described as a “final warning video” after presenting their demands. These reportedly include a ransom of N5 billion for the safe release of the victims.
BOSYA noted that specific instructions regarding the release process were also communicated during the mediation efforts.
Describing the situation as a pressing humanitarian crisis, the group called on key stakeholders to intervene urgently. Those appealed to include President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum.
The alliance also urged prominent Nigerian business figures, such as Aliko Dangote and Abdul Samad Rabiu, as well as other philanthropists, to support efforts to secure the victims’ freedom.
“This is a humanitarian crisis that requires immediate action, compassion, and unity,” the statement emphasized.
