Boko Haram in Trouble as Troops Repel Major Attack on Gajibo Base in Borno

—

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have successfully repelled a coordinated attack by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists on the Forward Operating Base in Gajibo, Borno State, intensifying pressure on insurgent activities across the North East.

According to Lt. Col. Sani Uba on Tuesday, the terrorists, who stormed the area on motorcycles, were forced to retreat after troops responded with heavy mortar fire.

Following the encounter, soldiers carried out exploitation operations and recovered ammunition as well as combat equipment abandoned by the fleeing insurgents. No casualties were recorded among troops.

In separate operations across the region, troops working alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force arrested two suspected Boko Haram collaborators in Gubio Local Government Area.

Security operatives also apprehended a suspected logistics supplier identified as Umar Ahmadu in Gwoza after intelligence provided by an associate of a surrendered terrorist.

Meanwhile, a 17-year-old relative of a Boko Haram fighter surrendered to troops along the Gwoza–Limankara axis, reportedly citing sustained military pressure and shortage of supplies within the terrorist camp.

Troops also rescued two kidnapped male victims from Mafa who reportedly escaped captivity under poor visibility conditions.

Military authorities said the ongoing operations are disrupting terrorist mobility and supply networks, reaffirming commitment to defeating insurgency and restoring lasting peace across the North East.
