Boko Haram: December deadline feasible, says Buratai

Chief of Army Staff, General Tukur Buratai, on Sunday, said the December deadline given by the Federal Government to end activities of Boko Haram insurgents was feasible.

He said the military had stepped up the fight against the insurgent group, disclosing that the tempo of the operation, the number of troops and the equipment had all increased.

He was speaking when he visited officers and soldiers of the 3 division of the Nigerian army in Jos, Plateau State.

“Our strategy and operational plans have continued to evolve with the daily challenges that we have,” he said.

Buratai added that in conjunction with other security agencies, the army was studying the pattern of suicide bombings and will soon find a solution.

He commended the soldiers in the battle front and urged Nigerians to support the fight against insurgency by providing useful information to security agencies.

Buratai said his vision is to re-position the army and make it more professional and more responsive to its responsibilities.

According to him, steps have been taken to ensure that medical facilities are improved upon, saying that the army will do better with healthy officers and men.
