The new season of Big Brother Naija will run from July 28 to October 6, 2024, with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu returning as the host.
John Ugbe, the CEO of MultiChoice Nigeria, explained that it’s not possible for all housemates to get equal screen time. He said that in entertainment, equal screen time isn’t realistic. This has been a common complaint from former housemates and fans who feel that some participants get more attention than others.
Ugbe compared the show to a movie, saying, “You can’t give every actor the same amount of time on screen.” He added that the camera’s focus on where the action is, so if some housemates are sleeping while others are active, the cameras will follow the active ones.
He emphasized that Big Brother Naija is about “being yourself” and that housemates who are genuine tend to do well on the show. Ugbe believes viewers want to see entertaining and authentic behavior.
Toke Makinwa will also return as the host of the weekly recap show, Big Brother Naija Buzz, on Showmax.
