BIAFRA: Again, Nnamdi Kanu wants judge replaced

712

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has again asked the judge hearing a treason suit filed by the government against him, to disqualify himself from the matter.

Mr. Kanu and two others, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi, are accused of treason.

Speaking with journalists at the Federal High Court, a prosecution counsel, Shuaibu Labaran, said the motion asking the judge, John Tsoho, to step down was served on Monday.

Mr. Labaran said the motion was a fresh plan by the defence to truncate the trial.

It is the second time the IPOB leader is asking a judge to withdraw from the case.

In December, Mr. Kanu passed a vote of no confidence on Justice Ahmed Mohammed of the same court, prompting the judge’s withdrawal from the matter.

In January, he replaced his counsel, M. U. Udechukwu, with Chucks Muoma.

On Monday, the second defendant in the matter, Benjamin Madubugwu, also moved to change his counsel.
