Benue State govt releases special security phone numbers to combat insecurity

The Benue State Government has taken a decisive step to address the surge in violent crimes by making public several phone numbers. 

These numbers, disclosed by Colonel Alexander Ashungu (retired), the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security and Strategic Liaison, are intended for the public to share information regarding criminal activities.

Colonel Ashungu emphasized the state’s unwavering commitment to combatting crime, asserting a zero-tolerance policy.

He urged citizens to promptly report any suspicions related to movements, gatherings, or unauthorized individuals carrying weapons, especially in rural areas.

In the pursuit of safety for both residents and businesses, Colonel Ashungu highlighted ongoing efforts by the state government.

Notably, he mentioned successful rescue operations for kidnapped victims and an active pursuit of those responsible for such heinous crimes.

“As we speak, a number of kidnapped victims have been rescued, and we are actively pursuing those perpetrating such heinous crimes in the state.”

The Special Adviser expressed gratitude towards Governor Hyacinth Alia for placing paramount importance on security and the well-being of the populace.

He also acknowledged and commended the praiseworthy contributions of the police and armed forces in upholding security and peace within the state.
