Be Vigilant, Don’t Sit on The Fence, IPAN Boss Tasks Nigerians on Anti-Graft War

Nigerians must stay vigilant, resilient, and actively participate in the ongoing struggle to build a Nigeria where corruption finds no sanctuary, the National President of Igbos for Progressive and United Nationhood (IPAN), Chief Lawrence Rapuluchukwu Onuzulike says.

Onuzulike gave the charge at a media chat in Awka on the theme: “Empowering Citizens; Uniting Against Corruption” as part of a weeklong activity to mark World Anti-Corruption Day.

He mirrored the state of activism in Nigeria, shedding light on the pervasive impact of political actions that have left many citizens in impoverishment.

He decried the current trend where politicians, in a to stifle dissent, resort to paying individuals for counter-protests, undermining the genuine efforts of the masses.

While drawing attention to a term gaining prevalence, “Cashivists”, the IPAN boss emphasized how some activists, regrettably, have succumbed to the lure of financial gain, compromising the integrity of the struggle for a better society.

He said, “The dire socioeconomic conditions in the country pose a significant challenge to the noble endeavors of well-meaning citizens striving for positive change.

“In the midst of these challenges, IPAN’s commitment to safeguarding the interests of the masses remains unwavering.

“We’re dedicated to transparency, accountability, and the overarching goal of creating a society free from the shackles of corruption.

“As the world unites against corruption on this designated day, IPAN stands resolute in its mission to empower citizens, amplify their voices, and foster a collective stance against corruption.”
