The Bauchi State Government has directed all political appointees intending to contest in the forthcoming party primary elections to resign from their positions on or before April 24, 2026.

This was disclosed in a press release issued on Wednesday by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Governor, Mukhtar Gidado.

According to the statement, the directive complies with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 (as amended), which mandate that public office holders seeking elective positions step down before participating in electoral processes.

The government emphasized that the move is aimed at ensuring full adherence to statutory requirements and promoting a transparent electoral system.

It also expressed appreciation to affected appointees for their contributions to the development of the state and wished them success in their political ambitions.

Furthermore, all affected officials were instructed to properly hand over government property and official responsibilities to designated officers within their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) before their exit.

The directive takes immediate effect.
