The organisers of the Bauchi Spelling Bee have announced the postponement of the 5th Annual Bauchi Spelling Bee Competition, earlier scheduled for 2025.
In an official statement issued on Monday, 24th November 2025, the committee explained that the decision follows the Bauchi State Ministry of Education’s directive ordering the temporary closure of all schools due to security concerns in parts of the state.
According to the committee chairman, Yakubu Abdullahi Musa, the safety of participating students remains the top priority.
He noted that although many children have prepared extensively for the competition, the event cannot hold while schools remain closed.
Parents and guardians were urged to remain calm, ensure the continued learning of their children at home, and await a new date which will be announced once schools reopen and the situation improves.
The statement reassured the public that the competition will resume when it is safe to do so.
