Bauchi Governor backs Ningi amid budget padding suspension

—

The Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, has announced that the state government fully supports Senator Abdul Ahmad Ningi during his tough time in the Senate.

Senator Ningi, who represents Bauchi Central Senatorial District, recently received a three-month suspension from the Senate for claiming that the 2024 budget was inflated by N3.7 trillion.

Governor Bala Mohammed made this announcement during the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting held at the EXCO Chambers of the new Governor’s Office.

He stated that the people of Bauchi State will stand by Senator Ningi because he spoke the truth.

The governor urged relevant authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly instead of just suspending Senator Ningi, whom he described as an important senator.

“We will support Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi for speaking the truth and ensuring checks and balances in democracy,” said Governor Bala Mohammed.

Additionally, the governor announced that his administration would introduce another round of palliative measures during the ongoing Ramadan fast to ease the hardship faced by the people.

He acknowledged the food insecurity challenges and assured that the government would provide food for the people across the state, even if it’s just a little, to bring some relief.
