Bauchi Approves N888.5m for 2026 External Exam Fees for 24,917 Students

—

The Bauchi State Government has approved the sum of N888.5 million for the payment of 2026 external examination fees for 24,917 students in public secondary schools across the state.
The State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Abdulkadir Ibrahim, disclosed this during his first press conference as commissioner. He said the intervention would cover the registration of eligible students for major examination bodies.
According to him, 22,646 students will be sponsored under the National Examinations Council (NECO), while 2,064 students will benefit from registration with the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB).
In addition, 207 students will be registered for examinations conducted by the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS).
The approval also covers 6,562 candidates under the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), including Computer-Based Test (CBT) training for students in public secondary schools across the state.
The commissioner described the approval as a landmark decision that reflects the commitment of Governor Bala Mohammed to strengthening the education sector. He noted that the initiative would ensure that no student is denied the opportunity to sit for critical examinations due to financial constraints.
Ibrahim commended the governor for what he described as a strategic investment in the future of the state’s youth, adding that the gesture would ease the financial burden on parents and guardians while empowering thousands of students to pursue higher education and career opportunities.
