Bashir Ahmad Condemns Lack of Northern Representation in FG’s Top 20 Tax Education Creators List

Former presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, has expressed concern over the Federal Government’s newly released list of 20 content creators chosen to help educate Nigerians on ongoing tax reforms, saying the list does not include anyone from the core northern region.
In a post on X on Saturday, Ahmad questioned the transparency of the selection process and described the list as unbalanced, arguing that it does not reflect Nigeria’s regional diversity.
He said a national tax-education programme should include creators who can communicate effectively with audiences from all parts of the country to ensure widespread understanding of the reforms.
“I honestly have no idea what metric or criteria were used to select the so called Top 20 content creators out of 8,591 nominations. Looking at the list, you can clearly see the imbalance and misrepresentation  I couldn’t find a single creator from the core North.
“Tax reform affects every citizen, so you would expect those chosen to educate the public to reflect a fair spread across the country, ensuring the message reaches every community in a language and voice they understand.
“If the goal is to educate Nigerians effectively, I urge the authorities to reconsider the process and include more diverse creators from all regions,” he said.
Ahmad’s comments came after the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee released the list of the “Top 20 Content Creators for Tax Reform Education,” selected from thousands of nominations.
The selected creators will undergo training to better understand the new tax laws before passing the information on to their audiences.
