Barrister’s family abducted as kidnappers infiltrate Army estate in Abuja

—

On Thursday night, a distressing incident unfolded at the Nigeria Post Army estate Kurudu in Abuja, as kidnappers infiltrated the area.

This event transpired around 10:00 p.m. in the phase 2 region of the estate, with the perpetrators forcibly taking two individuals while others managed to escape.

The victims of this harrowing event were identified as Barrister Cyril Adikwu’s wife and mother-in-law.

According to Austine John, a neighbor of the victims, the kidnappers forcefully entered Barrister Adikwu’s residence.

They resorted to gunfire, creating a chaotic and fearful atmosphere. Despite the chaotic situation, Barrister Adikwu managed to flee, while his wife and mother-in-law were unfortunately seized by the assailants.

Austine John recounted the unsettling moments, stating, “It all started at about 10:00; we suddenly started hearing gunshots, and immediately we knew something was wrong. I quickly went out to make sure my gate was well locked. Then we heard gunshots in Barrister’s House, and we alerted the estate’s management.”

He continued by explaining that the estate’s management promptly responded, and soon after, military personnel arrived, engaging in gunfire.

However, by the time they arrived, the kidnappers had already taken the wife and mother-in-law of Barrister Adikwu.

The gravity of the situation left the residents in a state of trauma, preventing them from sleeping throughout the night due to the fear of potential return by the kidnappers.

Austine John appealed to President Tinubu for assistance in bringing an end to such barbaric acts perpetrated by kidnappers, emphasizing the urgent need for collective efforts to ensure the safety and security of Nigerians.
