Barcelona midfielder Pedri has confirmed he will miss the rest of the 2024 Euros due to an injury he sustained during Spain’s quarter-final match against Germany.
The 21-year-old was taken off just 8 minutes into the game following a severe tackle from Toni Kroos. He was replaced by Dani Olmo, who later scored for Spain before Florian Wirtz equalized in the final minutes, pushing the game into 30 minutes of extra time.
Pedri expressed his gratitude towards Toni Kroos for reaching out to him and stated his intention to remain with the team for the remainder of the tournament in Germany:
“I will stay here until the end because the dream will continue… the hardest moment for me has passed.”
“I will soon be at full strength with Barça… now we’re ready to fight for our dream with Spain, we’re family.”
“Let me also say thanks to Toni Kroos for your message. This is football and these things happen. Your career and your record remain forever.”
Pedri has started in all of Spain’s Euro matches except for the one against Albania, where he remained on the bench.
