Barcelona coach Hansi Flick hailed his team’s resilience and determination after securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Getafe yesterday.
“The team fought for 95 minutes, and I’m proud of them,” Flick said in the post-match conference. “The fans realized we needed them, and their support was crucial.”
Flick emphasized the value of gritty wins, stating, “These types of games help us more than those we win by a huge margin. We’ll analyze it and identify areas for improvement.”
The German tactician praised Lamine Yamal’s unique talents and the electric atmosphere he creates at the stadium. However, he also stressed the need to protect Yamal and other players, relying on referees to ensure fair play.
Flick acknowledged Getafe’s solid defense, admitting Barca struggled to find speed in attack at times. Despite this, he expressed satisfaction with the win and singled out Robert Lewandowski’s exceptional goal-scoring form.
“Lewandowski is the best striker of the last 10 years,” Flick said. “He’s doing his job, and the players around him are supporting him well.”
On goalkeeping, Flick reaffirmed his confidence in Iñaki Peña, stating, “He’s our number one goalkeeper, and we’re very happy with him.”
