Bandits Strike FCT, Abduct Seven

Suspected bandits have kidnapped a 16-year-old boy and six young women during a late-night assault on Gidan-Bijimi in Kawu Ward, Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The News Chronicle gathered that the gunmen, armed with AK-47 rifles, reportedly invaded two houses around 9:47 p.m., whisking away the teenage boy and the girls, aged 17 to 23.

Residents said the victims, who had travelled to the community for a funeral, were caught off guard by the swift attack.

Gidan-Bijimi lies along the boundary with Marke village near the Kaduna border, an area increasingly targeted by criminal gangs.
