Bandits Kill Zamfara College Lecturer Despite N2 Million Ransom Payment

A tragic incident occurred as armed bandits took the life of Nasiru Mohammed Anka, a lecturer at Zamfara State College of Education, Maru.

He was abducted from his residence in a government quarters near the college about three weeks ago, along with other residents, during a bandit invasion in the area.

The bandits kidnapped numerous People, demanding ransoms for their release.

After weeks in captivity, the family managed to gather two million naira as ransom for Nasiru Mohammed Anka’s release. However, despite the payment, he met a grim fate.

A woman, who had been abducted separately by the same group of armed bandits but managed to escape, revealed the lecturer’s tragic end.

According to the escaped victim, Nasiru Mohammed Anka was tortured and eventually killed by the bandits in their camp when his family could not meet the exorbitant ransom demand.

The woman, who witnessed the lecturer’s death, explained that the bandits continually pressured him, insisting that his family had money and should bring more if they truly cared for him.

Unfortunately, the two million naira collected fell short of their expectations.

In a harrowing account, the female escapee shared that the bandits attempted to remove some of the lecturer’s body parts two days after his death.

However, due to decomposition, they abandoned the gruesome task. She recounted the lecturer’s ordeal, describing the intense pressure he faced from the bandits, which ultimately led to his demise.

Maru, the local government where this tragic incident unfolded, has been grappling with a surge in armed bandit attacks.

Just two days before the lecturer’s death, the town witnessed another invasion by the same group of bandits.

The situation has become increasingly dire, with attempts even made to abduct the paramount ruler of the area, resulting in the loss of one palace guard.

Maru local government, situated 34 kilometers from Gusau, the capital of Zamfara State, has become a notorious hotspot for banditry and kidnapping.

The region’s deep forests and numerous bandit camps contribute to the ongoing security challenges, posing a serious threat to the safety and well-being of its residents.
