Bandits Kill Elderly Woman, Abduct Three in Late-Night Attack on Kano Community

Dozens of armed bandits stormed Yankamaye village in Tsanyawa Local Government Area of Kano State, killing an elderly woman and abducting three others.
The incident occurred around 11 p.m. on Saturday, when most residents had already retired for the night. According to sources, the attackers parked their motorcycles on the outskirts of the village and proceeded on foot to avoid detection.
A resident told Newsmen that the bandits shot an elderly woman after she pleaded with them not to take her son. They killed her and went ahead to abduct the son.
The attackers then broke into another house and kidnapped two women, one of whom is the sister-in-law of the local ward councillor.
Police authorities have not yet released a statement on the incident.
Yankamaye, located about 5 kilometers from Rimaye town in Katsina State, has experienced repeated bandit attacks, especially after some neighboring Katsina communities entered a “peace accord” with bandits. Surrounding villages such as Sundu and Buresawa are facing similar threats.
Just on Monday, at least eight people were abducted during a late-night raid on Buresawa village.
