The bandits who kidnapped the Ojibara of Bayagan in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, Alhaji Kamilu Salami, have demanded a ransom of N150 million for his release.
According to reports on Sunday morning that the kidnappers called members of the Bayagan community in the early hours of the day to state their demand.
During the call, the abductors allowed the monarch to speak with his people so they could confirm he was alive and in their custody. In his distressed message, he pleaded with the community to help secure his freedom by negotiating with the kidnappers.
The monarch revealed that the bandits transported him on a motorcycle for over five hours through dense forest before reaching their hideout, from where they placed the ransom call.
As of the time of reporting, negotiations had not started. The call was only to notify the community of the ransom amount and establish that the monarch was with them.
The Ojibara also informed his people that several other individuals were abducted from a neighbouring community while he was being taken away.
Alhaji Kamilu Salami was kidnapped around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday when armed bandits carrying AK-47 rifles attacked him on his farm.
