The Tarah community in Sabon-Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State was attacked late last night by heavily armed bandits.
According to information shared by Bakatsine, the attackers kidnapped nine people and shot one man in the arm during the raid.
Local youths quickly organized themselves and confronted the bandits. Their courageous response is believed to have prevented a more serious tragedy, forcing the gunmen to flee with the abducted victims.
The situation is even more distressing because, just a few days earlier, authorities reportedly redeployed Tarah’s vigilante members to Katsira. This left the community with very limited protection at the time of the attack.
Residents are now living in fear, worried that the bandits may return, as the community remains vulnerable and shaken by the incident.
