Backlog Games: NPFL Season to be Halted after Match Day 32

The League Organizing body of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) has revealed that the current 2023-24 season will be halted after match day 32 to enable Rivers United to address their backlog of 5 games.

Due to their participation in the Continental tournament, Rivers United faced an influx of matches in the Nigeria Professional Football League.

Unfortunately, the Pride of Rivers were eliminated from the CAF Confederation tournament after losing on aggregate of 2-1 to Algerian outfit Alger in the quarter-final round.

Rivers completed their 26th game last night at Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Rivers State, defeating Katsina United by a 2-0 scoreline. They moved to 12th place with 40 points after 26 games.
