The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that as of February 6, 2023, it had been joined in 1,241 intra-party lawsuits in different courts of law. INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu made this confirmation , when he hosted a delegation of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) led by their President, Mr. Yakubu Maikyau, at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja. A Family Court in Iyaganku, Ibadan has ordered that a 32-year-old man Kareem Sarafa be remanded in a correction centre for allegedly defiling his 11-year-old daughter. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Oyo State charged Mr Sarafa with defilement. Chief Magistrate P. O. Adetuyibi, who did not take Mr Sarafa’s plea ordered he should be remanded in Abolongo Correctional Centre, Oyo. Ms Adetuyibi ordered that he be remanded pending legal advice from the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).    A Magistrate’s Court sitting in Awka, Anambra State, on Wednesday sentenced a 35-year-old woman, Success James, to prison for child labour and abduction of female minors for prostitution in the state. The Ogun State Police Command has revealed that all suspects involved in the New Year’s Eve murder of a former Central Bank of Nigeria official, Kehinde Fatinoye, his wife and son have been arrested. A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Wednesday, ordered the remand of a 20-year-old man, Josiah Godwin, at the Olokuta Correctional Centre for allegedly killing one Saviour Joseph. Godwin, who was an apprentice of the deceased, allegedly murdered his master and dumped his corpse in a well at Imafon Community in the Akure South Local Government Area of the state. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday re-arraigned a social media influencer and comedienne, Adedamola Adewale alias Adeherself, for alleged of N7.9 million internet fraud. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Adewale was charged alongside two others at large, on a three-count charge of conspiracy to obtain money by false pretences, attempt to obtain money by false pretences and retention of proceeds of a criminal conduct.  A chief magistrate’s court in Ogba, Lagos, has sentenced Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, Managing Director of Fidelity Bank, to six weeks in prison.   The court, presided over by Magistrate Lateef Owolabi, extended the same sentence to Ezinwa Unuigboje, the bank’s secretary, after finding both guilty of disobeying a garnishee order of court restraining the bank from allowing a judgment debtor access to his account. A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has sentenced a 51-year-old landlord, Saheed Ojomu, to five-year imprisonment for allowing his tenant to use his shop as a warehouse for cannabis. Justice Daniel Osiagor handed down the sentence to the convict after he changed his not-guilty plea to guilty. Telecommunication consumers under the aegis of the National Association of Telecoms Subscribers have dragged the Federal Government to court over its plan to implement a five per cent excise duty on telecom services.
