The presidential candidate of the Labour party, Peter Obi has scored the highest number of votes in Lagos State. The Anambra-born politician scored 582,454 votes while the presidential candidate of the ruling party, All Progressive Congress had 571,575 votes. Ahead of Saturday’s presidential election, the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has suspended train services across the country. NRC noted that the temporary suspension of train services will be from February 25 to February 27, 2023. The statement signed by the Corporation’s Deputy Director of Public Relations, Yakub Mahmood lists the routes suspended to include the Abuja–Kaduna, Warri–Itakpe, Lagos–Ibadan, and the Iddo Lagos-Ijoko train services. The Supreme Court of Nigeria has resumed hearing today in against the new naira note policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has mandated all its staff to open e-Naira wallets, noting that their allowances will be paid into the wallet while basic salaries will go into their regular accounts. The Association of Senior Staff of Banks, Insurance and Financial Institutions (ASSBIFI) has ordered banks’ staff to stay off duty following a series of attacks on banking staff and bank facilities. Reports reaching us says that the Supreme Court has adjourned hearing in a suit filed by Kaduna, Kogi and Zamfara States against the Federal Government seeking a restraining order to stop the full implementation of the naira redesign policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria. Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana has berated the Central Bank of Nigeria for disobeying the Supreme Court of Nigeria on the new naira note policy.
