The other day in an online discussion, someone made a remark of when Nigeria used to know peace. Another person in reply posed a rhetorical question asking if there has ever been peace in Nigeria. Presently Nigeria has a situation at hand, a situation that touches all and sundry irrespective of status or geographical location – the issue of banditry as the media as chosen to call it. Kidnappings, indiscriminate killing of people, whether individuals or groups and…

‘Alusi’ is a name the Igbo tribe of Nigeria gave to a species of the Nature-beings (servants of God) esteemed by them in their early culture. The name is short for “Alukwusi” meaning ‘evils must end’. The name originated from the knowledge & recognition of the workings of that species of the Nature-beings that ensure reward & punishment for good & evil done by the people. And since evil deeds dominated the people, the name emphasised it. The species gives to one, at harvest time, the same of whatever spiritual seeds one sowed. By Charles Ogbu. I made a conscious decision to switch off from everything concerning Nigeria and Ala-Igbo which explains why I had been posting pictures that should ordinarily be private. Yesterday, I even had to watch the reality TV show, Big Brother Naija for the first time all in an attempt to shield myself from the toxicity that is associated with the Nigerian social media space especially on issues concerning Ala-Igbo and Biafra. It is almost impossible to see Igbo youths argue in an environment of intellectual hygiene these days. So I just chose to watch in silence to protect…

– Gimba Kakanda Someone here reached out to plead that I let go of the Abba Kyari matter because the embattled cop is a fellow Muslim and that the strength of such brotherhood of faith is enough to overlook and forgive his tango with an indicted fraudster or collusion in a scam that, ironically, targeted a fellow Muslim in another country. I found that amusing but I politely pointed out why such reasoning is misguided. There’s no any personal agenda against the cop. I’ve never ever had an encounter with him, and neither was I ever a victim of his…
