Atletico Madrid Laugh Off Real Madrid’s €150m Move for Julian Alvarez

Atletico Madrid have publicly dismissed reports linking Julian Alvarez with a blockbuster move to city rivals Real Madrid, insisting the Argentine forward is not for sale despite claims of a €150 million bid.

The News Chronicle reports that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez apparently hinted at a big signing, fueling rumors that Alvarez could be the secret target. Atletico swiftly dismissed the reports and took the chance to poke fun at Real Madrid and Perez in a strongly worded post on X, previously Twitter.

Atletico chuckled in the statement that Real Madrid had deleted part of a video showing the Pope before he could reveal his allegiance for Atletico. The club also emphasized that the World Cup-winning striker remains central to their objectives and that they were neither considering nor assessing any offer for Alvarez.

The Madrid-based club went even further in attacking their rivals, saying Real Madrid makes them laugh even more than Barcelona. Additionally, Atletico told their neighbors to quit hiring players from their school.

Social media reaction has given one of football’s most intense rivalries new impetus, as Atletico strongly dismisses any suggestion that Alvarez may cross the city divide. The 25-year-old striker is still a key player in Diego Simeone’s team right now, even with all the transfer rumors.
