Atiku Officially Joins ADC Ahead of 2027 Elections

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State, marking a significant shift in Nigeria’s opposition politics ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Atiku completed his registration on Monday, days after announcing to ADC supporters and stakeholders in Adamawa that he would be joining the party. His aide, Abdul Rasheeth, confirmed the development in a statement.
Videos and photos from the event showed Atiku’s convoy entering the town to the warm welcome of supporters who cheered, beat drums, sang, and held placards bearing his picture. Atiku waved from his vehicle and greeted the crowd as he received his ADC membership card.
Shortly after the registration, Atiku posted on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “It’s official. -AA”.
This move formally seals Atiku’s alignment with the coalition party, which he had earlier endorsed in July as a united platform for opposition figures including Peter Obi and Babachir Lawal to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
