Atalanta Manager Gasperini Distance Self from Liverpool Job

Atalanta manager, Gian Piero Gasperini, has distanced himself from the Liverpool job after being heavily linked to the English giant.

The 66-year-old Italian, who joined the club from Genoa in 2016, appreciated the fact he was shortlisted as a candidate to succeed Jürgen Klopp:

Of course, I am happy with links to the Liverpool job to replace Klopp, but my focus is on the game.”

“We can’t be distracted by this kind of links or stories; we have to focus on the upcoming games.”

Gasperini has established himself as a favorite among the Atalanta fans since arriving at Gewiss Stadium. He has been voted Serie A Manager of the Year twice (2019 and 2020) and has finished as a runner-up for the Coppa Italia Cup twice.

Last month, Jürgen Klopp shocked Liverpool fans after announcing his departure at the end of the season.

Klopp arrived at Anfield in 2015 and has driven the club to a glorious campaign, winning the club’s first Premier League title after three decades and the first UEFA Champions League trophy since 2005.
