The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU on Wednesday November 13, 2013, said it has postponed indefinitely the proposed National Executive Council, NEC meeting, which was scheduled for Thursday November 14.

The postponement, ASUU said, was as a result of the fatal auto-crash which claimed the life of a former President of the union, Prof. Festus Iyayi who was on his way to Kano via Abuja Lokoja expressway to attend the NEC meeting.

While addressing reporters in Kano, ASUU’s National President, Dr. Nasiru Fagge said: “As you can see for yourself, we are mourning the departure of this great scholar and you would agree with me that in this circumstance, we cannot look at issues objectively.

Dr. Fagge in his eulogy of the departed Prof. Iyayi, said his late colleague was a solid pillar, and now that he is dead, is a great loss to Nigeria.
