Aston Villa’s victory over City makes it their 14th successive home victory

Aston Villa’s victory over Manchester City last night at the Villa Park was the club’s 14th consecutive home victory.

The tremendous run which began last season has been continued by Unai Emery, who joined the club this summer. They have won all their 7 league games this season, including the 6-1 and 4-0 victory over Brighton and Everton.

The victory over City last night means they have recorded 14 home successive wins, beating Crystal Palace, Fulham, Brighton twice each, then Bournemouth, Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United, Fulham, Tottenham, Everton, Westham, and Luton Town to attain this feat.

Unai Emery, who spoke to the media after the game described the result as fantastic.

“Hopefully, we’ll have more matches like tonight, and we can face more challenges, being successful in the Premier League and Europe.

“Tonight was fantastic and each match is a target we are facing. Tonight with our supporters here in Villa Park it was a great atmosphere.

“We enjoyed it a lot and transmitted our energy to them, and they transmitted their energy to us. The atmosphere was fantastic.”

Three points against the reigning champions moved Villa up to third in the table, four points below league leaders Arsenal.
