Arsenal Reaches Agreement in Principle to Sign Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad

Arsenal has reached an agreement in principle to sign Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad, according to The Athletic.

Arsenal has agreed to pay €33.5 million (£28.4 million) plus €5 million in variables to lure the midfielder to London.
Merino is expected to agree to a four-year contract, with a club option for an additional year, following his medical at the club.
If the deal goes through, Merino will become the third player to join Arsenal this summer, following the Gunners’ permanent signing of David Raya from Brentford and defender Riccardo Calafiori, who joined from Bologna.
Merino came through the ranks at Osasuna before having spells at Borussia Dortmund and Newcastle United. The Spain international joined Real Sociedad in the summer of 2018, where he has since scored 27 goals and provided 30 assists in 242 games for the club.
