The Nigerian Army carried out a nationwide operation between November 29 and December 1, 2025, resulting in the elimination of eight terrorists, the arrest of 51 suspects, and the rescue of 27 kidnapped victims. Several weapons and illegal items were also recovered.
According to a statement released on the Army’s official X account obtained by The News Chronicle on Tuesday, troops in Borno State from the 151, 152, and 192 Task Force Battalions killed four ISWAP/JAS terrorists.
They also recovered rifles, ammunition, a Baofeng radio, and other military equipment while stopping attempts by terrorists to infiltrate areas around Chibok.
The Army added that troops operating in Plateau, Taraba, Benue, Kogi, and Kaduna under Operation Whirl Stroke and Operation Enduring Peace rescued 20 victims, including women and children, and arrested several suspects involved in kidnapping, human trafficking, extremism, illegal mining, cultism, and illegal arms dealing.
In Taraba State, troops killed four violent extremists and recovered weapons, ammunition, and motorcycles. In Delta State, two cultists were arrested, and a locally made pistol and phones were seized. Security forces also recovered 76 stolen cattle in Plateau State.
In the South-South region, soldiers shut down an illegal oil refining site and arrested 25 drug suspects in a joint operation with the NDLEA.
The Army also reported that troops in Kaduna intercepted vehicles loaded with explosives, detonators, and fuses, which are now under investigation.
A notorious gunrunner, Shuaibu Isah (popularly known as Alhaji), was also arrested while attempting to acquire 1,000 rounds of ammunition from accomplices who are still being tracked.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to protecting Nigerians and ensuring that terrorists, criminals, and their collaborators find no safe haven in the country.
