Army Declares Top ISWAP Leader Wanted, Promises Reward for Credible Tip-Off

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have recorded another major breakthrough in the fight against terrorism after recovering a camcorder used by ISWAP fighters to produce propaganda videos, a discovery that has exposed the identities and hideouts of some of the group’s most senior commanders in Borno State.

The disclosure was contained in a statement made available to The News Chronicle by Captain Mohammed Goni, Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Maiduguri, on Wednesday.

The breakthrough followed a series of successful offensive operations against ISWAP/ISIS terrorists in the Lake Chad region of northern Borno, where troops seized several technical devices and other high-value intelligence materials.

Forensic exploitation of the recovered equipment yielded actionable intelligence, leading to the identification of terrorist locations and key ISWAP leaders operating within the Mangari–Metele–Dogon Chukun axis along the fringes of the Lake Chad Basin in Abadam and Kukawa Local Government Areas.

Among those identified are Abu Musa Al-Mangawi Baa Shuwa, the Wali (Governor) of the ISIS West Africa Province; his deputy and Amirul Jaish, Muhammad Jidda, popularly known as “The One-Handed Man”; and Hamad Abu Hanifa, the Amirul-Fiya of ISWAP, alongside other senior operatives.

Operation HADIN KAI described Abu Musa Al-Mangawi Baa Shuwa as the most wanted ISWAP leader currently operating within the Lake Chad Basin and announced that a substantial financial reward would be offered to anyone whose credible and actionable information leads directly to his arrest.

The military assured that all information received would be treated with the highest level of confidentiality, while the identities of informants would be fully protected in line with established security procedures.

The Joint Task Force also appealed to members of the public to support ongoing counter-terrorism operations by providing credible and timely intelligence that could assist security agencies in locating and apprehending the suspected terrorists.

Residents with relevant information were urged to report through established security channels or via 0708 498 8859, while warning citizens against attempting to confront or apprehend the suspects under any circumstances.
