Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, operating under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, have achieved another major breakthrough in Operation Zafin Wuta with the arrest of a wanted kidnap suspect in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State.
Acting on reliable intelligence, soldiers arrested Mr. Umar Musa Geyi on 22 November 2025 at Jandei-Kulamu in Wukari. He has long been on the security watchlist and is believed to be a key member of a kidnapping gang that has been terrorising communities in the area.
Early findings show that he is connected to the kidnapping of Alhaji Jano, a Fulani man from the Jandei-Kulala area, who was abducted on 13 November 2025 and is still being held.
Troops picked up the suspect while he was on a phone call confirming the victim’s continued captivity and demanding a ransom of N20 million.
Mr. Geyi is currently in military custody as investigations continue to locate the victim and secure his safe release.
The Commander of 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, praised the troops for their swift action and restated the Brigade’s commitment to destroying criminal networks, rescuing victims, and keeping Taraba State safe.
He also urged residents to remain alert and share useful information with security agencies.
