Apply Now: Canada Invites Nigerian Plumbers, Carpenters, Others

Canada Invites skilled Nigerian workers, such as carpenters, plumbers, and welders, also other workers from various countries, including Nigeria, to address the ‘japa’ phenomenon. The Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) recently announced a new immigration pathway specifically tailored for individuals with expertise in carpentry, plumbing, and welding.

This move comes as Canada seeks to meet the growing demand for skilled talent in key sectors that contribute to its economic progress. The country aims to prioritize the entry of skilled newcomers with trade experience to fill crucial positions.

According to IRCC Minister Marc Miller, addressing the shortage of skilled trade workers is of utmost importance, and assisting the construction sector in finding and retaining the right workforce is a crucial part of the solution.

Under Canada’s Express Entry (EE) system, a streamlined and efficient pathway will be provided for those with expertise in these critical fields. The category-based selection rounds will continue throughout the year, alongside general invitation rounds, and they will announce further details soon.

As part of this category-based selection, Canada recognizes skilled trade workers as essential contributors to their workforce, and the country is eager to welcome more of these talented individuals.

To qualify for a Canada immigration permanent resident visa, professionals and workers have various options. The primary route is through the Express Entry program, which is the main pathway for economic class skilled workers. Eligibility for the program involves meeting the requirements of either the Federal Skilled Worker Program or the Canadian Experience Class, as advised by lawyers at First Immigration Law Firm in Canada.
