The decision, spearheaded by the union affiliated with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, reveals mounting concerns over work-life balance, unpredictable scheduling, and wages among Apple staff.
Apple, responding to the development, reaffirmed its commitment to engaging with the union in a respectful and constructive manner, signaling a willingness to address the grievances raised by workers.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, a unionization vote at a New Jersey Apple store ended in failure.
The Communication Workers of America, which led the organizing efforts, accused Apple of unfair labour practices, alleging retaliation against organizers.
This latest labour unrest follows a ruling by the National Labor Relations Board in 2022, which found Apple in violation of federal labour laws, adding fuel to the ongoing debate surrounding workers’ rights within the tech giant.
