In a move aimed at enhancing administrative efficiency, Apple CEO Tim Cook has agreed to incorporate Japan’s “My Number” identification card functions into iPhones.
This decision follows a direct request from Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida during a recent video conference between the two leaders.
The “My Number” card, designed to consolidate tax and social security data onto a single identification platform, is expected to streamline governmental processes in Japan.
Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi confirmed this integration during a regular news conference, stating that the feature will be implemented by next spring.
This move marks Apple’s proactive step towards facilitating digital governance solutions, aligning with global trends in enhancing citizen services through technological innovation.
